Abstract

This study uses the field survey method combined with the sociological investigation and logical analysis to assess the impact of environmental pollution on social security in the limestone mining and cement production area around Dong Hy and Vo Nhai districts, Thai Nguyen province. Survey results of local people show that the air, water, and soil environment in many sites around two factories are polluted higher than in other areas. The issue of social security is still really limited, the income of the local people is mostly low. The attention and investment in social security issues in the area near the factory and pollution sources is also lower than in other areas.  Results of the regression analysis exhibit that air pollution has a largely negative impact on people's health and social security.
