Isolation and identification of biological characteristics of microorganism strains that have the ability to degrade oil in oil-contaminated muddy soil samples at the 7th Military Region

Abstract

From three oil-contaminated muddy soil samples, we selected a complex of microorganisms that has ability to degrade 93% of oil content after 9 days of testing. Three bacterial and three yeast strains were isolated from the complex of microorganisms. The ideal temperature for bacterial and yeast growth was 300 C; optimal pH was neutral; the strains were cultivated in 0,1% dilute saline solution. By using molecular biology techniques, we identified 6 microorganism strains in the complex: the train VKbt1 belongs to Chryseobacterium defluvii; the train VKbt2 belongs to Chryseobacterium gleum; the train VKbx belongs to genus Pseudomonas sp.; the train NMbt1 belongs to Pichia jadinii; the train NMbt2 belongs to Candida tropicalis; the train NMbx belongs to Candida tropicalis
