Abstract

MIL-53(Fe) and Ni-doped MIL-53(Fe) were successfully prepared using the solvothermal method at 150o C for 3 days. The as-synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, and BET. From XRD results, the fully crystallized MIL-53(Fe) materials were obtained in both undoped and doped samples. From SEM images, MIL-53(Fe) and Ni-doped MIL-53(Fe) were not so homogeneous with the coexistence of large hexagonal shaped crystals and small octahedral particles; however, the Ni-doped MIL-53(Fe) sample also exhibited long cracks on the surface of crystals. The surface area, pore volume, and pore width of the Ni-doped MIL53(Fe) sample are 274 m2 /g, 271.10-3 cm3 /g, and 13 nm, respectively. Ni-doped MIL-53(Fe) exhibited a very high adsorption capacity of rhodamine B in aqueous solution in comparison with the bare MIL-53(Fe) sample due to larger surface area and higher pore volume.
