Abstract

Damages of the proximal interphalangeal joint after hand trauma and injuries are common. This results in joint deformity and loss of motion. Arthroplasty in the proximal interphalangeal joint is a method that allows us to restore the range of motion and improves the deformity of the joint. In this study, the authors reported 2 cases in which the joint became deformity and loss of motion of the proximal interphalangeal joint post-traumatic of the hand, which undergone silicone arthroplasty of the proximal interphalangeal joint, with 1 year follow-up time. The range of flexion has increased from 40-110o and 0-105o, respectively. The postoperative QuickDAHS score was 4 and 5. Arthroplasty is an option to improve the range of motion and finger shape in posttraumatic proximal interphalangeal joint deformity and
loss of motion.
