Abstract

This study surveyed the need for medication counseling and patient satisfaction after being consulted at An Binh Hospital. The results showed that the proportion of patients ≥65 years old accounted for 33%. The majority of patients were female (82.14%) and the education level from primary school or below accounted for 41.07%. The treatment duration of more than one year accounted for 95.54%. The proportion of patients with a need for consultation accounted for 86.61%. Common reasons why patients do not need counseling on drug use include: patients are used to using many times or medical staff have consulted, accounting for 33.33%. The content that needs counseling the most is drug use (84.54%), indications (63.92%), drug name and dose, respectively, 55.67% and 51.55%. Therefore, there is a
need for outpatient clinical pharmacist consultation to improve the effectiveness and safety of drug use.
