Abstract

The study was conducted at Pho Yen Poultry Research Station with the aim of creating four new high-yielding egg laying chicken lines (GT1, GT2, GT3, and GT4) from the materials of Tetra-SL and HA chickens. Through four generations of selection, the results showed that GT1 had selection differential (S) of the egg number from 12.23 to 18.45 eggs, heritability (H) from 0.15 to 0.19, and selection response (R) from 1.83 to 3.5 eggs. GT2 had S of the egg number at 13.71-17.76, H at 0.16-0.19, and R at 2.22-3.37 eggs. GT3 had S of the egg number at 10.91-15.53 eggs, H at 0.14-0.21, and R at 1.53-2.95 eggs. GT4 had S at 13.04-15.05 eggs, H at 0.12- 0.15, and R at 1.56-2.02. Egg production of four lines were 247.43 eggs, 246.48 eggs, 244.38 eggs, and 242.07 eggs, respectively, which met the goal of the project. The rate of yolk was from 30.10 to 30.61%. The rate of embryonic livability was from 95.01 to 98.02%. The hatch rate was from 78.84 to 82.66%, and the hatch rate/ embryonic livability eggs was from 82.86 to 85.74%.
