Application of endoscopic surgery in harvesting latissimus dorsi muscle flap in breast reconstruction

Abstract

Applications of endoscopy become more and more frequent in plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. We report the two first clinical case of endoscopy assisted to harvest latissimus dorsi muscular flap. This flap is used to reconstruct breasts in Poland’s syndrome and post-mastectomy patients. We only need one scar about 10 cm hiden in the axillary region with a good aesthetic result. We believe this success will open the door to new prospectives in breast reconstruction.
