Assessing the pain relief effect of combining magnetic field and electroacupuncture in treating degenerative lumbar spine disease

Abstract

Objectives: to assess the analgesic effect of lumbar spine degeneration using magnetic method combined with electroacupuncture. Subjects and methods: the study was conducted on 60 patients with degenerative lumbar spine disease in the Central Acupuncture Hospital using the method of magnetic field combined with electroacupuncture. Result: the results showed that after 7 days of treatment, the pain relieving factor K achieved (p<0.05); 86.67% of the patients was pain-free; 13.33% of that felt much less painful than before; functional activities were absolutely great in 90% of the patients, good in the remaining 10%; lumbar spine dilatation and range of motion were both great in 86.67%, good in 13.33% of the patient. 100% of the patients was free from side back muscles retraction. Conclusion: the method of combining magnetic field and electroacupuncture showed good results, and it was much more effective than using only the electroacupuncture method.
