Genetic diversity of several gingseng plants collected in Lai Chau

Lai Chau Gingseng (Panax vietnamensis var. fuscidiscus) is a medicinal plant which has recently been found in Lai Chau province, Vietnam. In this study, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) markers were employed to investigate the genetic diversity and variability of 24 individual plants collected in Muong Te, Lai Chau. The ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 gene sequence of 24 samples of Lai Chau Gingseng was identified. The genetic similarities of them were ranged from 96.27 to 100%. This study may be useful information in quality control, propagation, cultivation and conservation of this medicinal plant.
