Research to design a wireless and remote surveillance system for water content in transmission transformer oil
Keywords:

This article presents a solution to build a wireless and remote surveillance system for water content in transmission transformer oil. In this solution, the field measuring device is designed to standardise the signal, process the signal, convert, display and communicate the signal from the water content in the oil sensor (capacitance principle). The field measuring device can use an independent power supply from a 4.5 V battery or from a solar power source to avoid unwanted effects from the distribution grid to the transformer. The LoRa communication protocol from the field measuring devices to the multi-channel central collector (MCC) is used. The MCC collected data from the field devices according to the LoRa communication standard, which can be displayed on-site or transmitted to the cloud. All data is read, displayed, processed, warned, and reported on a computer on a web platform. The system has been completed and is running stably, with a relative error of less than 1% at a value of 25 ppm water in oil.
