Traumatic brain injury, brain tumour or stroke have a high proportion of patients who are assigned to open the skull to relieve brain pressure. Skull bone flap, after being taken out of the body, should be stored for re-transplantation to patients. This study aims to review the characteristics of patients with preserved skull bone tissue and evaluate the acquisition, processing, storage and transplantation of cryopreservation cranial bone flap at the Tissue Bank, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital from March 2018 to March 2020. Methods: Descriptive and retrospective studies,
data were processed by using medical statistical algorithms. Results: There were 2412 patients from 14 hospitals preserved with skull bone, in which 78.6% of patients were at the age of 18-60, 78.8% were men, 91.4% of the cause was traumatic brain injury, 89.18% of patients had one flap, 100% flaps were sterile after irradiation, 51.2% patients were grafted, 25.4% died and 23.4% are waiting for transplantation. Conclusions: the majority of patients are of working age, men were more common, brain injury was the main cause; packing specifications and transportation
of required tissue, clean, sterile bone tissue, ensuring autologous transplantation.
