In recent years, the research direction on the application of the advantages of homogeneous catalytic complexes in environmental treatment has gained significant interest and development. This article discusses the findings of a method for the treatment of organic pollutants in textile wastewater using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with the assistance of a homogeneous complex formed by the transition metal ion cobalt (II) and citric acid (H4L). The parameters affecting the efficiency of chemical oxygen demand (COD) treatment were investigated to identify the optimal reaction conditions according to the COD standards specified in the technical regulation QCVN 13-MT:2015/BTNMT. Under the ideal conditions of pH 9.5 and initial concentrations of 2,0.10-6 M for both [Co2+]0 and [H4L]0, as well as an initial concentration of 2,0.10-3 M for [H2O2]0, the treatment efficiency for COD was 87.1% (about 65 mg/l) after 150 minutes. The feasibility of the method significantly contributes to the sustainable development of industrial production facilities. This serves as a basis for proposing additional methods for the treatment of textile dyeing wastewater using homogeneous catalyst complexes at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure.
