The popular products (n=89 samples) of tea, coffee, and bottled beverages originated from tea, coffee, and energy drinks on the market today, were collected and analysed for caffeine content. Caffeine levels in tea products were in a range of 4.11 and 22.37 mg/g d.w (mean 12.67±4.90 mg/g d.w), with the caffeine levels decreasing in the order of matcha tea ~ green tea > black tea > oolong tea > fresh tea. Caffeine levels in coffee ranged from 3.32 to 21.17 mg/g d.w (mean 11.09±5.02 mg/g d.w) with higher caffeine amounts in instant coffee compared to roasted powdered coffee. This is particularly noteworthy for consumers because energy drinks and bottled coffee contain a caffeine amount 5-7 times higher than bottled tea water. According to the recommended value (<400 mg/day for adults), the maximum intake of tea and coffee was calculated to be 17-48 g of dried weight per day, depending on the type of product, while energy drinks and bottled coffee can be consumed at a rate of 3-6 packaging units per day. However, only using low doses of caffeine (<200 mg/day) is likely to have more positive health effects. Children and pregnant women should consider using these beverages and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
