Recent advances in microfluidic technology have significantly driven the development of protein detection methods, a critical technique for early diagnosis and effective treatment of diseases, particularly cancer. This study provides an overview and evaluation of recent achievements in enhancing microfluidic structures, combining nanochannel techniques with impedance sensors for protein detection. The proposed integrated microfluidic platform employs ion concentration polarization (ICP) based on nanochannels for protein preconcentration, along with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to detect target proteins. This integrated approach improves sensitivity and specificity, offering an efficient solution for detecting low-concentration proteins in biological samples. By controlling ion concentration within the microfluidic channel and using impedance sensors on a lab-on-chip device, the reported results demonstrate the potential of a low-cost, efficient, and scalable diagnostic method with promising applications in point-of-care devices.
