The experiences of tourism development in some countries in the region and suggestions for Vietnam

Abstract

Over the past years, tourism in Vietnam has developed rapidly and gained remarkable achievements, contributing significantly to the development of the country. However, the development and contribution is not commensurate with the potential and strength of Vietnamese tourism. In this article, we summarize the experiences of some countries in the region on tourism development such as focus on tourism development policy, development of tourism human resources, development of infrastructure in service of tourism, promote tourism propagation, and diversification of tourist products. These experiences suggest Vietnam valuable lessons in order to better exploit the potential and strengths to develop Vietnam’s tourism more strongly and sustainably in the coming time.
