Cultivated land accumulation trend in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam

Abstract

Cultivated land accumulation is a salient phenomenon that has been notified for more than a decade in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. This paper is aimed at exploring and identifying some main characteristics of this trend in the context of a small-scale agricultural economy, in terms of a sociological approach to peasant household's economic behavior as well as the social structure of this region, based on results of a household survey carried out in September 2014 at six communes of Tiền Giang and An Giang provinces.
