Prominent achievements in Vietnamese-Russian archaeological research cooperation

Abstract

The field of archaeological excavation and research has always played an important role in the cooperation between the former Soviet Union, Russia today and Vietnam. One of the prominent collaborative activities recently is the Cooperation Program between the Institute of Archeology, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Novosibirsk Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology, Russian Academy of Sciences (2009-2019). In this program, the two sides have jointly organized and conducted field archaeological surveys; short-term exchange of scientists; exchange of scientific publications, materials; compiling articles associated with the latest archaeological findings in Vietnam and Russia as well for being jointly published. The two sides have also participated in the program of scientific activities (such as seminars organized by two or more countries, lectures, and scientific reports) and jointly sought funds for implementation of cooperation programs of mutual interest. The most outstanding achievement in this cooperation program is the excavations at the Con Moong Cave (Thanh Hoa province) and the early Paleolithic locations in An Khe (Gia Lai province) with the excellent results.
