Abstract

High-power fibre lasers are widely used in the metal processing industry. The fabrication of a high-power fibre laser source requires the research, development, and integration of several key parts, such as: 1) High-power laser diode pumps and laser resonators; 2) Cooling for laser diode pumps and high voltage direct current (DC) power supply; 3) Control systems for laser diode pumps and sensors; 4) Software for controlling, monitoring, and supervising the laser source, etc. To control the fibre laser to operate at various power levels and modes, the control board for the laser diode pumps plays an essential role. As part of the roadmap to develop a high-power fibre laser in Vietnam, in this first report, we present the research, design, and fabrication of a high-power laser diode pump control board that can control the laser output power in both continuous and pulse-operating modes. Experimental results show that the board operates efficiently and stably, controlling different diode laser pumps from major suppliers on the market, such as Max Photonics, Raycus, BWT, etc.
