A study on the development of a WebGIS-based digital database for agricultural production land in Phu Yen province

This scientific study presents the comprehensive development and implementation of a WebGIS-based digital database specifically designed for managing and exploiting agricultural production land within the former Phu Yen Province. The research was conducted through the rigorous integration and standardization of diverse spatial and non-spatial datasets to ensure data integrity. The core components of this database encompass critical information, including current land-use status, soil and agrochemical properties, land mapping units, and detailed land suitability classifications, as well as strategic proposals for crop restructuring and specific fertiliser use recommendations. Developed in strict accordance with the national VN2000 coordinate system, the database is managed on robust open-source platforms, namely QGIS and PostGIS, and subsequently deployed as a dynamic, online WebGIS application. This sophisticated system empowers stakeholders to efficiently search, query, and exploit detailed agricultural land information down to the commune level, providing essential support for production management, territorial planning, and informed land-use decision-making. Ultimately, the research results offer a highly practical tool that significantly contributes to improving the efficiency of land resource management while actively promoting the ongoing digital transformation within the local agricultural sector.
