Abstract

Nowadays, nickel-tungsten plating process has a high potential of alternating the electroplating of hard chromium in engineering applications. In this work, mechanical properties and chemical composition of the Ni-W coating have been investigated. The results show that the electrodeposits have the W contents of 4.5, 8.6, 10.7, 14.2, and 10.3% at the current densities of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, and 1.0 A/dm2, respectively.  Moreover, the alloys with the W contents of 10.3-14.2% exhibit the hardness about 880 kG/mm2.
