Abstract

A study on the liquefaction possibility of sand samples at Muong Phang, Dien Bien was implemented by a series of undrained cyclic triaxial tests. The cylindrical specimens of sand with diameter of 50 mm, height of 100 mm were prepared by air pluviation method with the initial void ratio at medium dense state. The test results showed that it could be accurately determined the stress ratio with cyclic number causing specimen liquefied at different conditions of density. The results would be useful for the liquefaction prediction at the in-situ dams subjected to strong earthquakes in Dien Bien province.
