Abstract

A cancer diagnostic instrument based on a new detection method has been investigated and developed by the research group. In current immunological diagnosis tests, specific binding between cancer antigens and sensing agents creates particular optical signals which correlate with the concentration of the antigens. These tests are affected greatly by the medium conditions of the cancer samples. The instrument developed here uses a new kind of sensing agent, magnetic nano-particles in order to overcome the limitations of the immunological methods in measuring the antigen’s concentration by means of induced magnetic signals of nano-particles binded specifically with the antigens. This paper presents an overview of the instrument and its novel points related to measuring method and detecting technique.
