Pests and diseases associated with Ngoc Linh ginseng in Vietnam

Abstract

A study on the types of pests and diseases associated with Ngoc Linh ginseng (Vietnamese ginseng) was conducted in indigenous and acclimatised growing areas belonging to Quang Nam, Kon Tum, Lam Dong, Vinh Phuc and Lao Cai provinces from 2013 to 2015. The results show that there are 11 species of pests and 3 fungal diseases associated with Ngoc Linh ginseng. The most harmful pests and diseases include leaf roller, bush-cricket, grass-hopper, field cricket, dampingoff and yellow rust. There were differences in the type of pests and diseases and the level of damages on Ngoc Linh ginseng among different growing regions.
