Abstract

The objective of this work is to investigate the factors affecting the adsorption capacity of modified Eco-BioBlock (m-EBB) such as pH, adsorbent dose and retention time. The m-EBB was manufactured from the mixture of various environment-friendly materials including active carbon, zeolite, keramzit, sand and cement with the proportion of 14, 22, 36, 14 and 14%, respectively. The results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of NH4 + was 18.72 mg/l at the appropriate pH of 6, and the adsorption equilibrium ranged from 180 to 240 minutes.
