Abstract

The movement of every genre not only is the result of the movement following its own rules and the characteristics of the genre but also is dominated by the consciousness of innovating thinking as well as the consciousness of creation of writers. That is the reason why the life of every genre changes constantly, especially in the contemporary context where the spirit of innovation has become more and more permanent in Vietnamese writers. One of the most remarkable changes in contemporary literature is the interaction of genres. When the interactions that have taken place in all social aspects as the featured characteristics of the contemporary age, when the artistic consciousness of writers has been changed significiantly, the interaction of genres poses many problems such as researching and locating the life cycles of literary genres, the charactesristics, and the renovation of genres’ structures. This article presents a research into the interaction of genres in Vietnamese contemporary short stories, thereby showing both the stability and the movement of short stories and identifying the rules of its movement and development in the historical process.
