Dissecting the aspects of the genre of The Scholars

Abstract

In conformity to the idea that “each novel becomes a genre itself”, this paper studies the role and the effect of applying notes to build up the aspects of the genre of The Scholars. This generic criticism is made on the basis of the premise, that is, realizing the aspects of the genre of a novel is finding out how a book becomes itself among many other ones. In the case of Wu Jingzi, the book which was called “The Scholars” is a book that would have made the appearance of literature history of the Ming - Qing novels miss a considerable corner if it had not appeared.
