Some paraclinical characteristics and result of colon cancer treatment by surgery combined with FOLFOX4 chemicals

Abstract

A retrospective study of 69 colon cancer patients at high-risk phase II and phase III treated with FOLFOX4 chemotherapy at General Hospital of Ha Nam Province from March 2011 to March 2016 shows that: The disease is more common in males than females, with a male/female ratio of 1.23. The median age was 60.5±9.7, with the most common age being around 50-69 (68.1%). In term of endoscopic images, 52.2% of patients with tumors which occupy the entire perimeter have the most common ulcers (40.6%). Tumors were found in the left colon (52.2%) more than in the right colon (47.8%). Mainly tumors were over 5 cm in size (62.3%), epithelial carcinoma (81.2%), and with moderate variation (60.7%). And most patients had an increase in preoperative CEA levels (63.8%). Results after surgical treatment combined with chemotherapy of FOLFOX4 showed an average survival of 36.7±3.2 months. Of which, the overall survival rate after 3 years was 47.5%; living all over after 5 years was 30.5%; living 3 years without disease accounted for 37.5%; and living 5 years without disease was 17.2%.
