The cervical length at 12-37 weeks of gestation by transvaginal ultrasound and some related factors

Abstract

Objectives: To determine the cervical length at 12-37 weeks of gestation by transvaginal ultrasound and some related factors. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study in 755 pregnant women at 12-37 weeks of gestation at Department of Consultation and Departement of Imagination, National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology from March to June, 2016. Results: The average length of cervix is 37.1±5.2 mm, and that in nulliparous is 35.9±4.72 mm, while that in multiparous is 38.19±5.39 mm. At the 50th percentile line, the cervical length is highest at 22 weeks of gestation (39.26±4.49 mm), and after that, it is gradually shortening. Conclusion: The average cervical length is 37.1±5.2 mm; the cervical leng is highest at 22 weeks of gestation and significantly short after 31 weeks of gestation.
