Study on the growth and development of some newly imported phalaenopsis varieties in Phu Tho province

Abstract

The study was conducted at the Chiyehd Company Limited and Vietnam High Technology Agricultural Seed and Material JSC. Most of 12 imported varieties of phalaenopsis orchids can grow well in the conditions of Phu Tho. After 16-18 months of planting, they meet the standards of cold processing for flowering as desired. The flowering rate of 85-90%, long flower branches, high ratio of lower/branch, beautiful color, high flower endurance, satisfying the requirements of domestic and international markets, and very good resistance to some pests in Vietnam are the outstanding characteristics of these varieties grown in Phu Tho. From the results of the study, three varieties: JCY120, TL529, and JB2082 are identified as the best suitable varieties to the conditions of Phu Tho province.
