Abstract

This paper presents the results of Pa Lua - Pa Rong uranium agglomerated ore processing using the heap leaching method. This technique can offer a relatively low capital cost method for recovering uranium from some low grade ores. The experimental results showed that the Pa Lua - Pa Rong (Quang Nam province) uranium ore containing 0.0905% U was treated by heap leaching method with the conditions: Ores as coarse as < 1.0 cm (passing 90%), moisture of ore: 8%, consumption of H2SO4: 35 kg/tone of ore, concentration of H2SO4: 50 g/l, MnO2 oxidant: 4 kg/tone of ore, rate of irrigation: 30 l/m2/h, the entire treatment cycle: 11 days, recoveries of U: > 90%, and the leached tails containing < 0.01% U.
