Prediction and analysis of geohazards in underground mining and tunneling using UDEC

Abstract

This article presents some investigation results on forecasting and analysis of geological hazards in underground mining and underground construction (tunneling), taking into account the presence of joints, the layers of different rocks, and faults using UDEC program from a reseach project in the period from 2011 to 2014. The results obtained allow to predict the types of geological diasters which may be caused by human activities. Based on the obtained results, several measures could be found to prevent and reduce geohazards reasonably.
