Abstract

Thai traditional housing is a precious cultural heritage of Vietnam architecture. Recently, under the impact of the changes of life, living habits and the impact of production and urbanization, traditional houses have been changed a lot. The study in Yen Bai province showed the transformation of traditional Thai stilt houses was fairly common from traditional villages to peri-urban and urban areas. The changes mainly included the using materials from wood, bamboo into concrete, brick and concrete home frames, corrugated iron roof... with the tendency to use the ground floor, kitchen separated from the house, raised floor, leaving 1 ladder, changing the interior layout of the house... These changes were quite profound and needed to be oriented to the appropriate variation and inheritance of house architecture, but still cherished the precious values of Thai traditional stilt houses.
