Abstract

A study into the medicinal plant resources from the Son Tra Natural Reserve - Da Nang City resulted in the identification of 657 species of medicinal plants belonging to 396 genera, 133 families of five phyla of vascular plants (Psilotophyta, Lycopodiophyta, Polypodiophyta, Pinophyta, and Magnoliophyta). Of those, 16 species were listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book (Part II, Plants, 2007) and in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (2017). The list of medicinal plants was categorised according to their (1) part of use, (2) mode of use and (3) therapeutic use. Life forms of medicinal plants were divided into seven groups including (1) grasses with 178 species (27.1%), (2) shrubs with 139 species (21.2%), (3) lianas with 122 species (18.6%), (4) big trees with 65 species (9.9%), (5) small trees with 138 species (21%), (6) hemiparasites with 9 species (1.4%), and (7) epiphytics with 6 species (0.9%).
