Application of sustainability balanced scorecard model for assessing the business efficiency of coal mining companies

Abstract

Based on the sustainability balanced scorecard model and the analysis of the business characteristics of coal mining companies in Vinacomin, the article offers a suitable model for assessing their business performance. The business performance indicators in the model are determined in accordance with to five different aspects of the sustainability balanced scorecard model, including economy, society, environment, internal processes, learning and development. The business performance indicators in the model have a strong link with each other to promote the achievement of the long-term business goals of the company. In addition, through the evaluation of the business performance indicators in the model, companies can easily see the factors affecting business performance, thereby proposing systematic and comprehensive measures which help them achieve strategic goals and sustainable development.
