SMEDDS containing Houttuynia cordata (Thunb.) extract (SMEDDS-HCE) was prepared to improve the stability of quercitrin and examine the acute antiinflammatory effects by the carrageenan model on mice. The chosen SMEDDS-HCE formulation contained Houttuynia cordata (Thunb.) extract (20%, w/w), tween 80 (52%, w/w), glycerol (8%, w/w), and sesame oil (20%, w/w). The SMEDDS-HCE was dark brown and homogenous. The average particle size was 184.9±1.72 nm, PdI was 0.343±0.004, and the average zeta potential value was -32.77±1.21 mV. The results on the examination of the acute anti-inflammatory properties of SMEDDS-HCE using the carrageenan model showed that SMEDDS-DC exhibited acute anti-inflammatory effects at doses of 430 mg/kg or 860 mg/kg after 1 hour of the administration of SMEDDS-HCE.
