Classification of two fungal strains isolated at the Institute 69 and determining their ability to dissolve some biological substrates
Keywords:
cellulose, collagen, fungi, gelatin, IST, morphologyAbstract
The study aims at the identification of two fungal strains by the morphological method and the sequencing of the ITS rDNA region, and the determination of their ability to dissolve collagen, gelatin, and cellulose. Methods: Experimental study, description, and comparison of the collected data with the key classification data and database of GenBank. The study was conducted with two strains of fungi at the Institute 69. Results showed that the strain DTDL-032 belonged to Aspergillus versicolor and DTDL-207 belonged to Aspergillus sydowi. These are two species of the Aspergillus versicolor group, which are quite homogenous in morphological and genetic characteristics. DTDL-032 is capable of decomposing collagen and gelatin substrates; the strain DTDL-207 is capable of decomposing collagen, gelatin, and cellulose.
