A study on cultivation of (Dendrobium loddigesii Rolfe at the nursery stage

Abstract

Dendrobium loddigesii Rolfe is one of beautiful wild orchids of Vietnam with highly economical and medicinal values. In the recent years, the studies on the cultivation technologies of Dendrobium loddigesii Rolfe at the nursery stage have been implemented. Results conducted from these studies showed that, the suitable planting time was in the Autumn, and the mixture of Sphagnum moss and pumice stone (50:50 ratio) was regarded as the best cultivation media proven by high planlet survival (94%) and healthy planlets (7.8 cm high with 7.2 leaves/plantlet and 3.9 new roots/plantlet) at 12 weeks after planting. And also, the nutrient substance coded B1-Thailand at the concentration of 2 ml/l sprayed weekly made plantlets much healthier, which is indicated by the plantlet’s high and thick stems with more newly formed leaves and roots (9.1 cm high, 7.93 leaves and 4.6 new roots per a plantlet at 12 weeks after planting).
