Abstract

Nho dong (Morinda longissima Y.Z Ruan, Rubiaceae) is a valuable medicinal plant and has been used to treat liver diseases and colitis by Thai’s ethnic people in Son La for a long time. From the ethyl acetate fraction of roots of Morinda longissima, seven anthraquinones, including soranjidiol (1), rubiadin (2), rubiadin-3-methyl ether (3), morindon (4), lucidin-w-methyl ether (5), damnacanthal (6) and damnacanthol (7) have been isolated Their structures have been determined by using IR, ESI-MS and NMR (lD and 2D) spectroscopic methods.
