Abstract

The adsorbent Zr(IV) immobilized on activated carbon for the removal of As(III) in water with large surface area and high thermal stability has been synthesized by the hydrothermal method in NH3 medium. The obtained material has the specific surface area of 766.922 m2/g. The effects of different factors in the hydrothermal process such as temperature, time, the concentration of NH3, the concentration of Zr(IV) have been studied. The maximum adsorption capacity of the material has been 10.98 mg/g. The characteristics of the material have been tested by X-ray diffraction (XRD), adsorption - desorption N2-isotherms (BET), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).
