RESULTS OF BREEDING CMS RICE LINE CT6A

Abstract

The CMS rice line CT6A has been bred and selected by backcrossing 8 times the maintainer line CT6B, a F8 progeny line developed from the cross of Kim 23B/MTL250 to CMS line BoA. The CMS line CT6A is characterized by short maturity time (95 days), short and strong culm, high tillering ability, big panicle, stable male sterility, high outcrossing rate, good combination ability, good grain and cooked rice quality, resistance to brown plant hopper and blast. The CMS line CT6A shall be used in breeding good quality hybrid rice varieties with resistance to brown plant hopper and blast in Cuu Long river Delta.
