HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITIES OF PARAMIGNYA TRIMERA ROOT EXTRACT ON THE MOUSE MODEL WITH THE LIVER INJURY CAUSED BY PARACETAMOL

Abstract

The study has evaluated the hepatoprotective activities of the extract from the Paramignya trimera root on the liver damage induced by paracetamol in mouse experiment. The results indicate that at the daily dose of 10 g/kgP in the course of 7 consecutive days, the liquid extract has shown promising effect through decreasing serum AST and ALT concentrations, reducing the liver histopathological injury induced by paracetamol. The methanol extract has given strong protective effect on hepatotoxicity tests at the dose of 10 g/ kgP, equivalent to those of sylimarin at the dose of 50 mg/kgP.
