Preparation of modified rice husk ash for removing Cu2+ in aqueous media
Keywords:
adsorption isotherms, Cu2 , kinetics, rice husk ashAbstract
In this study, rice husk ash was modified by MnSO4 precipitation oxidation method and was applied to treat Cu2+ in water. The specific properties of the modified rice husk ash were determined by XRD, EDX, SEM, and FT-IR. The analytical results showed that the presence of MnO2 in the material could increase the applicability in treating Cu2+ in neutral media. The factors during the treatment which were studied included the reaction time of Cu2+ adsorption, pH, adsorbent dosage, and Cu2+ concentration. The Cu2+ adsorption on the rice husk ash conformed to the Langmuir and Freundlich isothermal adsorption equation. The rates of adsorption were found to in accordance with the pseudo-second order kinetic equation.
