The study’s primary objective was to assess the initial effectiveness of lean management in the outpatient examination process at the Cardiovascular Clinic - Viet Duc University Hospital. Object: The research used data on examination time and patient volumes at the clinic between October 2022 and April 2023. Methodology: Interventional study based on the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) cycle. The intervention results revealed a reduction in the waiting time for examinations, decreasing from 29.42 to 27.38 minutes. Moreover, specific steps
within the examination process demonstrated decreased time durations, including the duration for an X-ray, which decreased from 217 to 167 minutes, and a 64-128 CT scan, which decreased from 201 to 108 minutes. Overall, the patient examination time was reduced by approximately 7.1 to 9.1%. In conclusion, the findings indicate an improvement in the outpatient examination process following the implementation of lean management practices, resulting in a decrease in examination time and thereby enhancing the satisfaction of the patient.
