Achievements and challenges of ensuring cultural rights in conditions of promoting cultural diversity

Abstract

The article is the research result of the KX03.05/11-15 Statelevelled research programme entitled “Ensuring cultural rights in conditions of promoting cultural diversity in Vietnam at present”. Based on the empirical study, an assessment of the achievements and current status of respect, guarantee and realization of cultural rights in Vietnam today (through evidence-based research in a number of central agencies and localities representing for cultural areas), the arctile clarifies the rationale and practice of cultural rights and promoting cultural diversity in Vietnam at present, as well as has analyzed the achivements and challenges in ensuring the rights to culture. Given analyses and empirical studies, the paper points out some findings and new scientific foundations for the development and improvement of policies and laws on culture and cultural rights in the context of further pushing international integration, developing a socialist-oriented market economy and a socialist-oriented law-governed state in Vietnam today.
