Open innovation in enterprises, an important strategy for international integration: literature review and case studies

This article addresses the issues of open innovation in enterprises. Although open innovation is considered to be a key topic in enterprise management, but it has just got the attention of researchers and managers since 2003, following the study of the pioneer Henry Chesbrough. In Vietnam, this is still a very new concept. This study will review the literature of the subject and investigate the cases of some multinational corporations that have made open innovation. This research will addresses three objectives: the first objective is to clarify the concept of open innovation, the second one is to understand the key factors affecting the efficiency of open innovation, and the last one is to discuss the ways of implementing open innovation in enterprises. This study will contribute to clarifying different aspects of open innovation, thus provide a basic knowledge for future applied studies in Vietnam, and offer reliable information for managers to apply open innovation in enterprises.
