Surrealism in modern poetry

This article aims to provide an understanding of surrealism in relation to conceptual art, symbolism and the relationship between art-creation and art-reception. By analysing Tristan Tzara’s surrealist ideologies, Marcel Duchamp’s art experiments and some surrealist paintings by René Magritte, the article clarifies surrealistic issues such as concepts in surrealism, the meaning of a surrealist work and its vitality. The article also distinguishes surrealism and symbolism in poetry and contributes a new way of thinking about surrealist poetry.
