Vietnam’s border trade: Current situation and issues

Abstract

Border economic cooperation and border trade among neighboring countries in particular, are being proved to be increasingly effective for the mutual benefits of the participants, especially for the country with a long border like Vietnam. The study exhibited that the trade between Vietnam and three neighboring countries has developed rapidly, especially the trade between Vietnam and China. However, the Government and localities should have solutions for important issues like infrastructure and for difficulties in developing the local business community as well as the policy harmonisation with the neighboring countries.
