A study on the green matter and grass meal production performance of Stylosanthes guianensis CIAT 184 cultivated in Thai Nguyen Province

Abstract

The experiment aimed to determine the yield of green matter and grass meal of Stylosanthes guianensis CIAT 184 cultivated in Thai Nguyen province. The experimental grasses were planted in the upland with the area of 500 m2 (100 m2 x 5 replications). The grass growth, regeneration, and productivity of green mater and grass meal have been monitored and analyzed for two years. The results showed that S. guianensis CIAT 184 grew and regenerated well in the upland of Thai Nguyen province; the yield of green matter for grass meal production, the yield of grass meal, and the price of one kg grass meal were 80.653 tons/ha/2 years,  17.260 tons/ha/2 years, and 5,350 VND, respectively. It can be concluded that the cultivation of S. guianensis CIAT 184 for grass meal production in Thai Nguyen province is highly potential.
