Intercultural communication competence of international students at a higher education institution in Vietnam
Keywords:

This article examines the intercultural communication competence of international students enrolled at a higher education institution in Vietnam, with a focus on four core dimensions: awareness, knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The findings indicate that international students demonstrate a high level of awareness regarding the importance of understanding and respecting cultural differences in both academic interactions and everyday life. However, the ability to apply intercultural knowledge and communication skills in practical contexts remains uneven, particularly in complex and culturally sensitive situations. The study therefore highlights the need for systematic support and training programmes aimed at strengthening intercultural communication competence, thereby enhancing international students’ adaptation and academic effectiveness within a multicultural higher education environment.
