Assessment on drought tolerance stage of some local rice varieties collected in Son La province at the germination stage

Abstract

Drought that can generally reduce up to 70% of crop yield, whereas rice is considered to have the worst droughty tolerance, so the impact of drought on it is more serious. In this study, the assessment on the drought tolerance of five local rice varieties collected in Son La province at the germination stage was implemented through the indicators related. Results from the study showed that, SM2 varieties had the best drought tolerance, followed by YC, SM1, MS2 and MS1 ones. The results could be a good basis for screening the droghty tolerant rice cultivars in the future.
